Ivan Kljakovic Gaspic overall winner of the World Cup Finn Class 2009

Ivan Kljakovic Gaspic (CRO) is the overall winner in the Finn class at the 41st Semaine Olympique Française in Hyeres Friday. This was his first Grade 1 win in the class. Another Croatian Marin Mišura won the fifth place at the same competition. Croatia and GB are the only countries with two representatives among 10 most successful competitors.

Ivo Macela distinguished Croatian medical scientist in Prague and Bratislava

Dr. Ivo Maćela 1891-1952, born in Trpanj on Pelješac peninsula, was professor at the Charles University in Prague and at the Comenium University in Bratislava. In 1945 he founded the Medical Faculty in Plzen in Czech Republic. In 1947 he was nominated unanimously candidate for the Nobel Prize by the Council of Professors at the Medical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague, for his research and important achievements in endocrinology.

Branko Istvancic's film depicting Croatians wins Italian award

Branko Ištvančić, distinguished Croatian screenwriter, film and TV director, provided very interesting inserts of his films depicting various aspects of life and spirit of the Croatians: Wellman, The Stone Picker, The Cormorant Scarecrow, The Ghost in the Swamp, Saying Goodbye, From Grain to Painting, etc.

U2 legends of rock'n'roll are coming to Zagreb in August 9th and 10th 2009

The Zagreb concerts of U2 are scheduled for August 9th and 10th. The 10th of August concert was sold out in just a few hours, so organisers and the band arranged an additional concert, for which you may still buy your tickets. The concerts are to be held at Maksimir Stadium. In 1995 Bono recited a verse written in 1628 by Croatian poet Ivan Gundulić: O lijepa, o draga, o slatka slobodo... (O beautiful, o beloved, o sweet liberty...).

In North America the film SEARCHING FOR A STORM by Jack Barić will be shown in San Pedro, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Toronto, Chicago, Cleveland, Montreal, and New York. In Australia it will be screened in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Gold Coast, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane, and Geelong.
